This site is great. I am one of the daughters of the person you call Aberham Lafayette. his name is Aberam (due to an error on his birth certificate). His mother's nickname was Mollie not Holly. That is what is on her headstone. Thomas Jefferson, Mollie and Austin are all buried at Old Letot Cementary in Dallas, Texas. Doris was a child of his first marriage and she married Leo Livingston and they had one child David. My father was actually (according to him) married five times but I do not know the names. My mother was his last wife and they were married in 1948.

I am going to do my best to update this record with the information that you all have given me. Please check back in a couple of days, and verify that I have it correct.

And any other info you might want to pass on would be welcome!

Hello Janice, you might not remember me, I'm Tommie Stringer's oldest daughter, Martha Lynn Stringer Smith Rickman. Her father is Tom Fannin, Uncle Bud's brother. I just happened onto your comments and wanted to touch base with you. It's been forever since I've had contact with any of Poppa's (Tom) family.
Hope you are doing well. Feel free to contact me anytime.

I am so glad you replied. It would have been really nice to be able to speak with your dad about the history of our family. I did speak to my aunt and she did say that the date of Gracie Inez Fannin and Abraham Lafayette's marriage is wrong. Gracie was not born until 1922 so she could not have married Abraham in 1914 cause she wasn't born. Gracie and Abraham did have 4 children. Laura Fannin, Janice Fannin, James Floyd Fannin Sr., and Albert Wayne Fannin Sr. I do appreciate all your help with this information. If you have any pointers on how to find information I would greatly appreciate it. I just started my family tree about a couple weeks ago and I have gotten a lot of information but there comes a point when you get stuck. I know you said your dad is the one that did most of the research but maybe if he gave you pointers on how to find information then that would be great. I could use all the help I can get. Again, I want to thank you for having this tree available and on ... Read More

Dad always tried to get his information from courthouses. He would go through marriage records, death records, property records and birth records looking for the names he was interested in. He would got to areas that he knew family had originated in. He also got some information from census records, but they weren't as easy to access as they are now. Now you can do most of this stuff online, and you don’t even have to travel to the courthouse. Cemeteries were a favorite of Dad’s too. (Ha) I remember him dragging us through many cemeteries when I was a kid. We got chiggers one time in an overgrown area. That night in the motel, we were all putting the Campho Phenique on.

A lot of the information is passed down from people like you and your Aunt. As you’re looking through the site, you will see in the sources and notes where Dad got the information from.

Thanks again, and please stay in touch.
